Chemical Abstracts—SciFinder
If you have a PC Windows or Macintosh machine with a Harvard University campus
network connection, and you are a current Harvard ID holder, you can load the
Chemical Abstracts/SciFinder Scholar
client onto your machine. If you experience problems running the software after
installation, please read the Troubleshooting notes first.
Chemical Abstracts searching is available to you 24 hours a day using SciFinder Scholar for both regular and substructure searches.

BeilStein Crossfire
If you have a PC Windows or Macintosh machine with a Harvard University campus network connection, you should be able to load the CrossFire client directly onto your machine. Please see Librarian for Beilstein Crossfire Commander software and passwords.
DISCOVERYGATE
DiscoveryGate information platform is available to download to computers with a Harvard I.P. address. This software is available for Windows and MAC OSX.
Available databases includes:
- Available Chemicals Directory
- Drug Data Report
- Reaction Browser Databases including ChemInform, Organic Syntheses, Comprehensive Heterocyclic Chemistry and Solid-Phase Organic Reactions.
- Metabolite Database

Troubleshooting Notes
Most errors accessing Scifinder Scholar (Chem Abstracts) stem from the
following:
- Make sure the installer has unzipped and loaded into the Scifinder folder
the file named site.prf. If this file is not present in the folder
after installation, please contact the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library
to obtain a copy.
- You are not using a Harvard IP address to access the server. You must
be a Harvard University person,using a Harvard IP address to access this database.
